🪙 FIRST COIN FLIP 🪙

Grace is now 7 months pregnant. The group home director calls her in:

"Grace, we care about you, but we're not equipped for babies. You have until month 7 to find alternative housing."

Grace has applied to Haven House, a transitional housing program for pregnant teens. They provide:

• Safe housing for 18 months
• Parenting classes
• Job training
• Childcare assistance
• Case management

But there's a waiting list.

THE QUESTION:
Will transitional housing be available when Grace needs it?

⬆️ FLIP A COIN and vote by commenting HEADS or TAILS ⬆️

Your coin flip determines Grace's path.

Poll closes tomorrow at noon.

What the coin means:
Either housing is available, and Grace gets support, or no housing is available, Grace must find another way

This is what real foster youth face.

Their futures determined by whether resources exist when they need them, outcomes as random as a coin flip.

Tails.

Home isn't just a place, it's a feeling.

For 10 years, Central Texas Table of Grace has been creating that feeling for foster youth.

More than shelter, we provide stability. More than meals, we offer hope. More than programs, we build futures.

Every child deserves to know they matter. Every young person deserves a chance to thrive. That's why we're here.

Grace needs to tell someone she's pregnant.

But who should she turn to first?

MARCUS - Her boyfriend, age 17

He aged out of foster care six months ago. He works construction, lives in a studio apartment, and sends money to his younger sister still in care. He's trying, but he's barely making it himself.

MS. TORRES - Her caseworker

She's been Grace's caseworker for 8 months, longer than most. She knows the system and might know about resources. But she's also overwhelmed with 32 cases.

JASMINE - Her best friend

She's known Grace since sophomore year. She lives with her grandmother and has seen teen pregnancy in her family. She won't judge.

Grace is sitting in the bathroom of her group home.

The test is positive.

Her mind races:

• The group home has rules about pregnancy - she might have to leave
• She has no health insurance after she ages out in 6 months
• Marcus works construction but barely supports himself
• She has $347 in savings
• She's supposed to graduate in 4 months

She has no mom to call.
No grandmother to give advice.
No family group chat to share the news.

She has a caseworker who changes every 18 months.
And house rules that might not let her stay.

Grace doesn't know what to do.
But she knows she has to tell someone.

Tomorrow: YOU decide who Grace tells first.

This is the reality so many foster youth face alone. No safety net, no family support, just impossible decisions at an age when they should be dreaming about the future. Following Grace’s journey is a reminder of why support systems like CTTG matter!

Meet Grace.
She's 17 years old. She's been in foster care for 12 years. She's 6 months from aging out of the system.
And she just found out she's pregnant.
Grace entered foster care at age 5. By age 17, she has lived in 14 different placements.
14 different beds.
14 different "this will be your forever family."
14 different goodbyes.
She's currently in her third group home. She works part time at a fast food restaurant. She's a senior in high school with a 2.8 GPA.
She's never been adopted.
She's never had anyone teach her about healthy relationships.
She's never had a mom to call when things get hard.
Over the next 13 days, you're going to walk in Grace's shoes. You'll face her choices. You'll determine her path.
Her story is based on real patterns we see at Central Texas Table of Grace, and the statistics are sobering:

70% of female foster youth become pregnant before age 21
Their children are 2x more likely to enter foster care themselves
Most age out with no family support and nowhere to turn

Grace's future will be shaped by factors beyond her control. But YOUR votes will determine which path she takes.
This is Grace's journey. And starting tomorrow, YOU decide what happens next.
