Supervised Independent Living (SIL) Program

Clarice brings more than 35 years of experience serving children, youth, and families across childcare, community education, child welfare, and foster care advocacy. She began her career in the childcare field, where she spent 17 years supporting children and their families. During that time, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Counseling and Social Work from the University of North Texas, further strengthening her ability to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those she served.

She later transitioned into the domestic violence field, focusing on community education and awareness related to domestic violence and sexual abuse. Clarice then joined the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, where she served for 15 years in a variety of leadership and specialist roles, including Abuse and Neglect Investigator, Supervisor, Residential Child Care Licensing Supervisor, and Program Specialist at the State Office.

Among her many accomplishments, Clarice served as the first Ombudsman for Children and Youth in the Texas foster care system, advocating on behalf of foster youth for more than three years. She also had the opportunity to work with the foster care litigation team that oversaw the landmark lawsuit involving the Texas foster care system, contributing to efforts that helped shape the future of foster care services in Texas.

Today, Clarice serves as the Supervised Independent Living (SIL) Program Manager at Central Texas Table of Grace, where she oversees the SIL program and provides case management services to young adults as they transition toward independence. Her extensive experience, compassionate leadership, and unwavering commitment to vulnerable youth continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of those she serves.

A native Texan, Clarice has lived in the Austin metropolitan area for more than 21 years. She is the proud mother of three adult children, including a set of twins, and grandmother to three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In her free time, she enjoys watching crime stories, listening to music, and decorating.
